As a Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for equipping your team with detailed technical requirements through a product backlog to build high quality products, delivering to our product roadmaps that align to Civica''s strategic goals.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will take complex business problems and break them into simple, elegant and highly effective user stories, ensuring the end product aligns with the company''s mission and vision of becoming a global GovTech champion.
We are looking for an expert in creating clear and precise customer and outcome focused requirements, someone who leads by example and has hands on execution of the product delivery through product backlogs, ensuring that product development practices and backlog aligns to our roadmaps and our global vision.
What you will do to be successful in this role as Technical Product Manager
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that technical solutions meet product requirements whilst providing technical guidance and oversight to ensure that solutions are technically feasible, scalable, maintainable, and meet quality standardsGuide the engineering process by managing product backlogs, creating and refining product requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteriaParticipating in team ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure the engineering team has a clear understanding of product prioritiesTriaging and resolving product-related issues, working with the engineering team to address bugs, and communicating with stakeholders to manage expectationsIdentify upcoming risks and proactively implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring successful product deliveryTogether with the Product Manager, make trade-off decisions when faced with conflicting priorities, resource constraints, or technical limitationsWork closely with various stakeholders, including engineering, design, marketing, commercial, and customer success teams to ensure successful product developmentAnalysing data and metrics to inform product decisions, measure product performance, and identify areas for improvementSupport a strong culture of knowledge sharing and product decision and design documentation
Requirements
Demonstrated experience as a Technical Product Manager, working in a modern software or product organisationProven ability to create and manage backlogs, writing clear user stories with concise and detailed acceptance criteriaCapable of prioritising features, requirements, and tasks based on customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibilityCompetency to participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisionsContinuously seeking to understand customer needs, pain points, and motivations to develop products that meet customer requirements and deliver valueStrong analytical skills to collect, analyse, and interpret data to inform product decisionsAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer successFlexible to adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs, and business prioritiesStrong problem-solving skills to overcome technical, business, and customer challengesOperates with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, to manage product development and collaborate with engineering teamsUnderstanding of programming concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patternsKnowledge of technical architecture, including system design, scalability, and performance optimisation
