We are currently recruiting on behalf of a long-established and growing manufacturing group for an experienced Technical Manager to join their team. With over 55 years of industry expertise and a recent acquisition expanding their reach, this group operates multiple manufacturing and distribution companies both in the UK and internationally.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and knowledgeable Technical Manager with experience in passive fire protection products, such as fire stopping solutions and fire doors. The role also requires a flexible mindset, as the product range extends well beyond fire protection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of new products and technical solutions across multiple business units.
- Ensure all products meet relevant regulatory and compliance standards.
- Manage the testing and certification process, including external fire tests and internal trials.
- Maintain up-to-date product certifications and documentation.
- Support product design and development, with CAD assistance from the engineering team.
- Provide technical guidance to internal sales teams and external customers.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, partners, and certification bodies.
- Represent the business at industry events and contribute to future regulatory direction.
- Stay informed on trends and innovations across the sector.
- Lead the transition from BS 476 Part 22 to EN 1634-1 standards for Fire Doors (UK).
- Support business development activities, particularly within the passive fire protection division.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 5 years'' experience in a Technical Manager or similar technical leadership role.
- Strong technical background in passive fire protection (fire stopping, fire doors, etc.).
- Proven experience with testing, certification processes, and liaison with notified bodies.
- Experience in product design and development.
- Relevant Passive Fire Protection qualifications (desirable).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally across teams.
- Confident managing multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Keen interest in manufacturing processes and working collaboratively with engineering teams.
- Able to learn and understand new product areas beyond passive fire protection.
