Technical Lead – Contract

📍 Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid in office part of week)
🕒 37 hours per week | 📅 Start ASAP – 12-month contract
💰 £500 per day | Outside IR35

Our client is seeking a skilled Technical Lead to support and enhance digital services across key sectors. You'll guide a cross-functional team, lead on new feature development and refactoring, and ensure the maintainability and resilience of digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead feature development and backend refactoring using AWS and serverless tech
• Design/document public APIs and ensure high-quality support for digital registers
• Collaborate on product/technical roadmaps and backlog prioritisation
• Promote and uphold best practices in architecture and engineering
• Guide Agile delivery, continuous improvement, and system resilience
• Mentor team members and support disaster recovery planning

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong AWS expertise (CDK, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Aurora/Postgres)
• TypeScript, React, modern JS frameworks, HTML/CSS, accessibility
• Experience leading high-performing development teams
• Working knowledge of XP practices, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
• Skilled in testing (e.g. Cypress), monitoring (Grafana), and IaC
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Some out-of-hours work may be required to support service continuity.
