Technical Director - Hydrogeology Lead

What you will do
Leading the technical delivery of projects covering all aspects of water resources hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, groundwater flooding, monitoring and groundwater qualityProject direction including financial and change control and quality assurance through checking and reviewingMentoring, developing and supervising junior colleagues with opportunities for formal people management; working with the Technical Lead in SWMC to develop a programme of hydrogeology trainingWorking closely with the team and the current Hydrogeology and Groundwater Services Lead to develop and agree scopes of servicesGenerating high quality bid proposals and developing innovative solutions to meet our clients\'' needsUndertaking and supervising the production of high quality client- and public-facing deliverables, demonstrated through excellence in communication and the ability to present the visualisation and interpretation of complex dataWorking collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to deliver the hydrogeological aspects of a wide range of challenging and engaging projects, including work with hydrogeologists in the Ground and Water, EIA and Mining TeamsPromoting a safety-first attitude in line with WSP\''s health and safety policy and proceduresWe are looking for an experienced Associate Director/Technical Director capable of both independent work and working as part of a team. You will be a highly motivated, numerate candidate with excellent communication skills able to focus on both internal team development and external business development. This role has significant scope for further progression as we go through a period of succession and development over the next 5 years. Although primarily a UK based role, you will also be expected to work collaboratively with teams across WSP\''s global business.Your Team

Groundwater and water resources modelling to support water resource estimation and management, as well as environmental impact assessmentA strong understanding of UK hydrogeology and of the environmental and regulatory framework of UK water managementStrong project management and direction skills, with experience of managing projects from start to finish; experience of framework management would be desirableA clear understanding of client needs, opportunities and challenges, with a track record of leading and winning workExcellent interpersonal skills, with the potential to engage and influence at all levels, particularly in the technical development of more junior staffStrong commercial awareness, with experience of identifying and developing business opportunities as well as the preparation of winning proposalsExcellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills, with an eye for detail and enjoyment of solving challenging hydrogeological/hydrological problemsQualifications
MSc Hydrogeology combined with a BSc degree in a related discipline (e.g. geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, environmental science)You will have gained, or be working towards chartership with a relevant professional bodyImagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
