Technical Compliance Manager - -60,000 + package
Location: Office-based with site, client, and remote flexibility
Hours Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (plus reasonable additional hours as required)
Role Overview
The Technical Compliance Manager is a senior role combining technical leadership with responsibility for health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance across the organisation. The role provides strategic oversight of technical service delivery, engineering standards, and client-facing technical support while ensuring the business operates in full compliance with relevant legislation, ISO management systems, and industry best practice. This role acts as a central point of contact between technical teams, engineers, clients, regulators, and senior management, supporting operational excellence, risk management, sustainability, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Service Support
- Provide technical leadership and support to engineering and service teams.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex systems, faults, and design queries.
- Support contract delivery, system surveys, specifications, costing, and project development.
- Oversee technical standards, documentation, and system performance across all contracts.
- Lead development and improvement of staff technical skills and industry compliance.
- Provide product education and technical training to engineers and internal staff.
- Attend client meetings to define technical requirements, system solutions, and development plans.
- Support tendering, proposals, and technical inputs during sales and contract negotiations.
Compliance, SHEQ & ISO Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain company HSEQ / SHEQ management systems.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and information/security legislation.
- Maintain, audit, and continuously improve ISO-certified systems including:
o ISO 9001 (Quality) o ISO 14001 (Environmental)
o ISO 45001 (Health & Safety)
o ISO 27001 (Information Security)
o ISO 50001 (Energy Management)
- Plan and conduct internal audits, site inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Prepare for and manage external audits, client audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Lead development and review of RAMS, safe systems of work, and procedures.
- Chairing Quarterly Management Review meetings Commercial, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Support tender submissions, quotations, and contract negotiation from a technical and compliance perspective.
- Monitor supplier compliance, pricing, and technical performance.
- Track technical and SHEQ KPIs, producing reports for senior management.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and improvements affecting service quality, compliance, and profitability.
- Promote a positive safety, quality, and compliance culture across the organisation.
- Support sustainability and Net Zero initiatives, including energy performance and environmental controls.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical background within building services / BMS or similar engineering environments.
- Excellent knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Commercial and contractual awareness.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Leadership skills with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Ability to balance operational, commercial, and compliance priorities.
Technical & Professional Knowledge
- BMS / control systems and integration technologies
- Risk assessment, incident investigation, and audit management.
- ISO standards and certification maintenance.
- UK health & safety, environmental, and quality legislation.
- Tendering, costing, and contract technical support.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
- Proven experience in a technical management or senior engineering role.
- Demonstrable responsibility for HSEQ / SHEQ or compliance management.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
- Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, health & safety, environmental management, or related discipline.
- Experience supporting sustainability or energy management initiatives.
