Interim Technical Engineering Buyer
London (St John’s Wood) | £21.98 per hour | ASAP start
Onsite, 5 days per week
Our client is a global engineering‑led organisation with operations across multiple international regions. Their London office in St John’s Wood is seeking an experienced Technical Engineering Buyer to join the team on an interim basis, working fully onsite and supporting a busy technical procurement function supplying spare parts and assemblies to manufacturing sites overseas.
You’ll work within a small, collaborative international team, managing end‑to‑end procurement activity, liaising with suppliers across Europe, the Middle East and the Far East, and ensuring accurate, timely processing through their ERP system.
Key Responsibilities
- RFQ preparation — interpreting internal engineering requirements and preparing clear Requests for Quotation
- Supplier management — receiving, evaluating and comparing offers; negotiating favourable terms
- Costing & margin analysis — preparing cost sheets and commercial summaries
- ERP processing — raising purchase orders, entering data accurately and producing reports
- Vendor development — identifying and developing suppliers to meet technical, quality and logistical requirements
- Team support — monitoring inbox/telephone enquiries, updating catalogues and maintaining databases
- Engineering or technical qualification
- Previous experience in technical buying/procurement
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of procurement principles
- Knowledge of INCO terms, Forex/exchange rates, and international trading
- Confident negotiating with suppliers and evaluating technical quotations
- High numerical accuracy and strong IT literacy
- Experience with SAP Business One or similar ERP systems
- Fluent English; additional European languages advantageous
- Methodical, organised, proactive and able to prioritise effectively
- Confident user of MS Office and keen to learn new systems
