Role Overview

We are looking for a Technical Assistant to join an experienced and supportive technical team. In this hands-on, fast-paced role, you will work across the group to support technical systems, product quality, and customer compliance.

Working closely with the site teams, you will assist in delivering technical reporting, managing customer platforms, and help to drive improvements in processes and documentation. You will play a key role in supporting trials, quality tracking, and customer visits, contributing to the delivery of safe, legal, and high-quality Fresh Food categories.

Technical Assistant Key Responsibilities

  • Support Technical Leadership: Assist the technical management team with product safety, quality, legality, and customer compliance across the supply chain
  • Manage Samples & Trials: Coordinate and document benchmarking samples and product trials for new varieties and packaging across all categories
  • Customer & Supplier Communication: Support customer visits and technical meetings; manage communication on product performance, complaints, shelf life, and audit requirements
  • Drive Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Collate KPI reports, quality summaries, and waste data, contributing to ongoing process improvements and SOP development
  • Contribute to Technical Projects: Support the delivery of technical initiatives including packaging reduction, compliance updates, customer policy changes, and innovation tracking

Technical Assistant Key Requirements

  • Experience in food auditing (GMP), with knowledge of BRCGS and retail customer standards
  • Experience across Fresh Food categories and factory environments
  • Familiar with labelling regulations and ERP systems (Prophet preferred)
  • Strong communicator, organised, and detail-oriented with a proactive mindset
  • Confident in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint essential); Power BI is a plus
  • HACCP Level 2, BRC, TACCP
  • Degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or a related field is advantageous
