Team Leader – Food Manufacturing
Location: Redditch
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £31,500 – £34,500 DOE
Shift: Monday to Friday, 14:30 – 23:30

Step Up and Lead in a Fast-Paced Production Environment

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Zone Leader to oversee multiple production lines and Cell Leaders. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll drive operational excellence, ensure food safety and product quality, and motivate teams to deliver results in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, motivate, and support Cell Leaders and operatives across your zone.

  • Assign tasks clearly and monitor team performance.

  • Conduct reviews, investigations, and disciplinaries with HR support.

  • Present quarterly profit improvement plans to senior management.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure GMP, food safety, and health & safety standards are consistently achieved.

  • Complete weekly food safety audits and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Investigate root causes of machine breakdowns and liaise with engineering teams.

  • Maintain absence levels below 3% and address operational issues quickly.

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across your zone.

  • Share best practices and contribute to new product launches.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve delays or equipment issues.

Key Performance Indicators
  • GMP score > 85%

  • OCE (Plan Attainment) > 95%

  • Accurate and timely paperwork and CCP checks

  • Minimized waste and product giveaway

  • Full compliance with food safety, quality, and safety standards

Training & Development

You’ll receive full training and must complete the following to be signed off as a fully competent Zone Leader:

  • Food Safety Level 3

  • Fire Safety & Fire Marshal

  • GMP, Allergen & Organic Controls

  • Brand Integrity & Traceability

  • ASC/MSC Awareness

  • Coaching & Mentoring

  • Leadership & Values Programme

What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in food production (essential).

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams.

  • Fluent in English (spoken, written, reading) for documentation and compliance.

  • A proactive, safety-first mindset with a focus on quality and improvement.

  • Physically fit and comfortable in a fast-paced, chilled environment.
