Team Leader - Children's Residential Home
Location: Liverpool
Pay: £15.60
Sleep-In Rate: £70 per night (approx.
Shift Pattern: 2 on 4 off (rolling rota)
We are looking for a grounded and compassionate Team Leader to help guide, inspire, and support a dedicated care team within a children's residential setting. This role blends hands-on care with active leadership, ensuring young people are safe, supported, and given space to grow — emotionally, socially, and individually.
You will lead by example, shaping a homely, respectful, and emotionally secure environment where young people can build trust, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
What You'll Be Doing Nurturing Daily Life
- Guide the care team in creating a calm, clean, and safe home environment.
- Lead by example in delivering consistent, therapeutic care throughout the day and night.
- Review, update, and embed individual care plans and risk assessments with staff.
- Monitor and improve quality of care through shift leadership and reflective supervision.
Empowering Young People
- Promote a culture where children feel seen, heard, and valued.
- Offer direct emotional support, positive role modelling, and guidance through daily challenges.
- Encourage the expression of children's views and involve them in their own planning and decisions.
- Attend and advocate in planning meetings, ensuring children's needs and voices are represented.
Promoting Wellbeing & Progress
- Help children access education, healthcare, and community life with enthusiasm and structure.
- Plan and support activities that nurture creativity, confidence, and meaningful experiences.
- Encourage healthy routines around food, sleep, hygiene, and emotional regulation.
- Contribute to and review Positive Behaviour Support Plans to support safe, compassionate approaches.
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead shifts with confidence, ensuring smooth handovers and accountability for team actions.
- Coach staff during their shifts, offering insight, guidance, and support.
- Deliver structured supervision sessions and help colleagues reflect, grow, and stay aligned with values.
- Support the team to meet standards required by care legislation and inspection frameworks.
Safeguarding & Safety
- Promote best practices in safeguarding and child protection.
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of young people at all times.
- Follow risk assessments rigorously, responding calmly and appropriately to incidents.
- Uphold a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and always model respectful communication.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in children's residential care (including shift leadership).
- A calm, emotionally intelligent approach to conflict, stress, and uncertainty.
- A full UK driving licence.
