  • Numeracy support: Assist pupils with mathematical concepts, practical activities and problem-solving tasks, reinforcing learning introduced by the class teacher.
  • Small-group interventions: Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce key skills, address learning gaps and provide additional practice where needed.
  • Additional learning needs: Provide targeted support to pupils who require extra assistance, including children with special educational needs, learning difficulties or communication needs.
  • Differentiated learning: Help adapt classroom resources and activities to accommodate different learning abilities, ensuring pupils can access lessons and make progress.
  • Independence and confidence: Encourage pupils to develop independent working habits, problem-solving skills and confidence in attempting new challenges.
  • Behaviour and classroom management: Promote positive behaviour, good learning habits and respectful relationships by reinforcing classroom expectations and supporting the teacher in maintaining an orderly learning environment.
  • Social and emotional development: Help pupils build positive relationships with their peers, develop communication skills and manage everyday classroom interactions.
  • Assessment and progress: Observe pupils'' participation and understanding, provide feedback to the class teacher and highlight areas where additional support may be beneficial.
  • Classroom preparation: Assist with preparing learning materials, organising resources, setting up activities and maintaining an attractive, stimulating classroom environment.
  • Pastoral support: Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive atmosphere where children feel valued, respected and ready to learn.
  • Wider school activities: Where required, support playground duties, lunchtime supervision, school events and other activities that contribute to pupils'' wellbeing and development.
  • Safeguarding: Follow school policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality and contribute to a safe environment for all pupils.

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills to assist with primary-level learning activities.
  • The ability to support phonics, reading, writing and maths activities across different primary age groups..
