  • Encouraging social interaction, emotional regulation, and the development of independence.
  • Implementing strategies outlined in the pupil''s EHCP and SEND support plans.
  • Promoting a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to observations and feedback for teachers and parents.
  • Building a strong, trusting relationship to help the child feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

What We''re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, or SEND setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, particularly those who are non-verbal or pre-verbal, is highly desirable.
  • An understanding of alternative communication methods, including visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, or similar approaches.
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in response to individual needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their potential.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, are desirable but not essential.

What We Offer

  • A full-time, long-term position within a supportive Sutton primary school.
  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child''s development and educational progress.
  • A collaborative and experienced SEND team.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • A welcoming school community dedicated to inclusion and pupil wellbeing.

If you are committed to helping children with ASD thrive and are looking for a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
