SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

This outstanding Birmingham secondary school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its specialist SEND team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established SEND Hub, supporting students with a range of additional needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), physical disabilities and associated learning needs. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide both classroom and intervention support, helping students to access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential.
You will work alongside experienced teachers, SEND professionals and support staff within a school that is renowned for its high standards, excellent facilities and supportive leadership team.
The Role:
- Providing classroom support for students with additional needs
- Supporting students within the school's SEND Hub
- Working with young people with Moderate Learning Difficulties and physical disabilities
- Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
- Supporting students to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
- Delivering targeted interventions and small group support
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement
- Working closely with teachers, the SENDCO and external professionals
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Experience working with students with learning difficulties, physical disabilities or additional needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve success
- Relevant Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or SEND experience (desirable)
