Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEMH School, Walsall
Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? This dynamic and inclusive secondary SEMH school in Walsall is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students who thrive in smaller, tailored learning environments.

Job Role:

  • Providing 1-2-1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Supporting teachers in planning and delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Helping students regulate their emotions and manage behaviours effectively.
  • Encouraging positive attitudes to learning and building confidence in students.
  • Assisting with classroom activities, interventions, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Building positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted role model and mentor.
  • Supporting students in developing essential life skills alongside their academic progress.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, mentor, or youth worker, ideally in an SEMH or secondary school setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A valid DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
