TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit in the Bury area, who are looking to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant. The provision offers a supportive and nurturing environment, helping students overcome barriers to learning through positive relationships, consistency and personalised support.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant on a long-term, full-time basis from September, with the opportunity to secure a permanent salaried position for the right SEMH Teaching Assistant. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will support students across the provision, working closely with teaching staff to manage challenging behaviour, promote engagement and encourage positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour is essential

• Previous experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit, SEMH setting or alternative provision is desirable

• Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills

• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people

• A patient, resilient and proactive approach

• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners to reach their potential
