Teaching Assistant

We''re seeking support for a Year 1 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who communicates non-verbally.

The Role: As a dedicated teaching assistant, you''ll be instrumental in delivering personalised one-to-one care for this student. You''ll enable the child''s engagement in classroom learning, encourage peer relationships, and champion their academic and personal growth.

Your Duties:

• Deliver tailored support to the autistic pupil, prioritising their safety and wellbeing
• Execute and monitor the student''s Individual Education Plan (IEP) alongside behaviour support strategies
• Support communication and speech development using alternative communication tools
• Work in partnership with classroom teachers and the SENCO to customise learning experiences
• Create an welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages peer connections
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with families, sharing updates on the child''s development and update education and training

Essential Criteria:

• Proven background working with children on the autism spectrum or comparable additional needs
• Familiarity with non-verbal communication approaches and techniques
• Expertise in behaviour support methods with flexibility to personalise approaches
• Compassion, resilience, and authentic commitment to supporting children with additional needs
• Excellent communication abilities and collaborative working style with staff and families
