Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant for a fantastic full-time, long-term opportunity at a primary school in the SK5 area of Stockport.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will work across the school, including within the school''s dedicated SEND Nurture Room, providing consistent, tailored support to pupils who need additional help to access learning, manage their emotions and develop positive relationships.
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who understands that every child has different needs and that patience, consistency and the right support can make a significant difference to a pupil''s school experience.
Previous experience working in a UK primary school is essential, alongside practical experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs. This role would suit a Teaching Assistant who is confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs and who can remain calm, positive and supportive when working with children who may find the school environment challenging.

The Role - Teaching Assistant
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work across the primary school, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs both in the classroom and within the SEND Nurture Room.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs throughout the school day.
- Providing individual and small-group support where required.
- Working within the SEND Nurture Room to help pupils engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
- Supporting children with additional communication needs, including non-verbal pupils.
- Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage challenging situations safely and positively.
- Encouraging participation, confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
- Adapting your approach to suit individual learning, communication and emotional needs.
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff to provide consistent support.
- Helping create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Promoting positive relationships, clear boundaries and appropriate behaviour.
The successful Teaching Assistant will be flexible and comfortable working across different areas of the school, responding to pupils'' changing needs throughout the day.
Essential Experience & Requirements
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, you must have:
- Previous experience working in a UK primary school.
- Practical experience supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges.
- An understanding of how to support children who may become dysregulated or struggle to engage in learning.
- Experience supporting pupils with communication needs, including non-verbal children.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support.
- The ability to build trusting relationships with children and work effectively as part of a team.
- A flexible, proactive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils.
Experience supporting children with autism (ASD), ADHD and complex emotional or behavioural needs would be particularly beneficial.
