A small Secondary SEN provision in Islington have a vacancy for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support students with Autism and moderate Learning needs.

• Supports students aged 11-16 with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties)
• Delivers a differentiated curriculum tailored to individual needs
• Small class sizes with targeted interventions and specialist support
• Offers access to the National Curriculum, including GCSEs and BTECs
• Focus on developing:
  • Social communication & interaction
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Emotional regulation & anxiety management
  • Functional life skills
• Team of passionate, collaborative staff committed to personalised learning
• Strong emphasis on relationship-building to support student progress
• Tracks both academic achievement and social development outcomes

• Support the Class Teacher in delivering individualised learning programmes
• Work closely with students with Autism and MLD in a secondary setting
• Help manage and support challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
• Use strategies to de-escalate situations and maintain a positive learning environment
• Apply a solid understanding of:
  • Autism behaviours and triggers
  • Effective support and teaching strategies
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students
• Contribute to both academic progress and social development
• Be adaptable-no two days are the same
