Teaching Assistant

Reeson Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bolton.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting ASAP, with the potential for a permanent school contract for the right candidate.

You will work closely with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PLMD), helping them access learning, develop confidence, manage emotions, and engage positively within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, and additional learning needs.
• Support pupils with learning, communication, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement.
• Work alongside the class teacher to adapt lessons and activities to meet individual needs.
• Provide consistent, calm, and positive support with behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, communication skills, and positive relationships.
• Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and taking part in school activities.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and contribute positively to their development.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a patient, caring, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference to children with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working with children with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, or additional learning needs.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Confidence supporting children with emotional regulation and behaviour.
• A consistent and nurturing approach to supporting challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
• Availability for a full-time, long-term position.
