A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southwark is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. You will be working closely with a child in Year 2 who has ASD, providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.The successful Teaching Assistant will support the child with their learning, communication, social development and emotional regulation, helping them to access the curriculum and become increasingly independent within the classroom.Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other additional needs would be highly advantageous. Experience using PECS or Makaton would be ideal, although candidates with strong relevant experience supporting children with communication and learning needs will also be considered.You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to ensure the child receives consistent and appropriate support throughout the school day. Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child will be an important part of the role.
