The Position - Teaching Assistant
The school is looking for a nurturing and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join their specialist ASD provision from September. The role will involve supporting a small group of approximately 5-7 pupils with Autism, many of whom are non-verbal and require additional support with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and engagement with learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment where pupils can thrive. The school is looking for someone who is patient, consistent, and able to build positive relationships with pupils through a child-centred and compassionate approach. Experience working within an ASD unit, SEN school, or specialist Autism provision is highly desirable. Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, sensory strategies, or alternative communication methods would also be beneficial.
