We''re looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant in Stevenage who can offer practical support while helping pupils do more for themselves.The focus is on supporting pupils with additional learning and communication needs, making classroom activities accessible and helping them take part in school life.What the role involvesSupporting learning individually and in small groups.Adapting instructions and resources to suit pupils'' understanding.Helping pupils communicate their needs and make choices.Supporting literacy, numeracy and individual learning targets under teacher guidance.Working with the class teacher and SENCO to review what is helping each pupil progress.Who we''d like to hear fromExperienced SEND Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants.Candidates with practical experience supporting autism, learning difficulties or speech and language needs.People who can describe the strategies they have used and the difference those strategies made.Reliable communicators who work well with teachers and other support staff.Experience with Makaton, PECS, visual resources or targeted interventions would be welcome.
