We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Bristol. This role involves working closely with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their academic, social, and emotional development in a structured and nurturing environment.
You will play a key role in helping students access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in young people''s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of SEN, including autism (ASC), ADHD, and learning difficulties
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and adapting materials to meet individual needs
- Support students with emotional regulation and behavioural challenges using positive strategies
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction among students
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
- Assist with personal care where required (training provided if necessary)
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are advantageous but not essential
