Teaching Assistant
Provision: Secondary School Learner Hub
Location: Swanwick (DE55)
Pay Scale: Between -410 and -450 a week (after deductions)
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, Full Time
Start Date: ASAP

Long Term Futures are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a Learner Hub in Swanwick. The Learner Hub provides a small, supportive alternative to the mainstream classroom for students who require additional help to engage successfully with their education. With class sizes of no more than six students, the provision offers a calm and nurturing environment where learners can receive more individualised academic and pastoral support. You will work closely with students who may find a mainstream classroom challenging, helping them to remain engaged with their learning, build confidence and make positive progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the Learner Hub, working with groups of up to six students.
  • Support learners who require additional help away from the mainstream classroom environment.
  • Work under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff to deliver tailored support strategies.
  • Adapt learning resources and approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Support students across core subjects, including maths, English and science.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Help maintain a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Who We''re Looking For

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification is essential.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, additional needs or barriers to learning would be highly beneficial.
  • A patient, adaptable and supportive approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine desire to encourage learners who may need additional support to succeed in education.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
