Teaching Assistant Islington, EC1V (commutable from Angel, Finsbury Park, Highbury, Holloway, Camden) 105- 115 per day Start Date: January 2026 Contract: Full-time, long-term (Full Academic Year)Long Term Futures is recruiting a confident, resilient, and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support pupils within an Alternative Provision (AP) attached to a mainstream primary school in Islington. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping children who need a highly relational, structured, and personalised approach to their learning.The Alternative Provision caters for pupils who struggle to access a full classroom environment, often due to SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, or barriers linked to trauma or unmet needs. Your presence will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.About the RoleWorking closely with the AP Lead, SENCo, and specialist staff, your responsibilities will include:Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups within the alternative provision space.Using trauma-informed, relational approaches to build trust and support emotional regulation.Helping pupils access learning tasks tailored to their developmental and academic needs.Supporting behaviour through calm de-escalation, consistency, clear boundaries, and positive reinforcement.Assisting with transitions between AP, mainstream classes, and outdoor spaces.Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and ..... full job details .....
