Hays Education are proud to be working with a well-established specialist SEN school in Preston that supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum condition (ASC), communication needs and associated behavioural challenges.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated support team.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs across the school. Working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff, you will help deliver personalised learning and intervention programmes that enable pupils to achieve their individual goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing classroom support for pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.
• Delivering targeted interventions on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
• Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
• Using behaviour support strategies to create a calm and productive learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external professionals to support pupil progress.

What you''ll need to succeed

• A recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN within a school, college or specialist setting.
• A strong understanding of additional learning needs and inclusive education.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
• A genuine passion for helping children with SEND achieve their full potential.
