Due to increasing demand from our partner schools, we are looking to speak with enthusiastic, reliable and committed Teaching Assistants who are available for work across the borough.

These opportunities include long-term Teaching Assistant positions, fixed-term assignments and ongoing education support roles, with schools looking for candidates who can make a genuine difference to pupils'' learning, confidence and engagement.

Teaching Assistant Opportunities

Our partner secondary schools are looking for Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities potentially available in mainstream classroom settings, learning support and SEN provision.

Typical responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils in the classroom to access the curriculum
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Working with pupils with additional learning needs
• Supporting pupils with SEND, including learning, communication and behavioural needs
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and engagement
• Working alongside teachers to reinforce learning
• Supporting pupils with classroom activities and differentiated work
• Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining high expectations
• Providing pastoral and emotional support where appropriate
• Helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment

The exact responsibilities will vary depending on the school and individual role.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant
• Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, calm and supportive approach
• The ability to build positive relationships with young people
• A proactive attitude towards supporting learning
• The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

Relevant experience does not necessarily need to have been gained in a school. We would also welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, mentoring, support work or other roles involving children and young people.
