Salary: andpound;90 andndash; andpound;120 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role:
An inclusive and forward-thinking school in Milton Keynes is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide specialist support for pupils with hearing impairments. You will help ensure these students can fully participate in lessons, develop communication skills, and build confidence in a positive, accessible learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teachers to adapt and deliver lessons that meet individual hearing needs.
- Use radio aids, lip-reading support, and visual cues to aid communication.
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to develop listening, language, and social interaction skills.
- Support the creation and delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), risk assessments, and therapy care programmes.
- Collaborate with the SENCO, parents, and external agencies such as Teachers of the Deaf.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with hearing impairments or a genuine interest in developing skills in this area.
- Knowledge of SEN and inclusive classroom strategies.
- British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1andndash;3 or Makaton training (desirable).
- Phonics experience, especially for children with cochlear implants (desirable).
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
