Temporary Teaching Assistant - Hearing Impaired Students

Position: Teaching assistant
Pay: -92 - -95 per day

Contract: Temporary, with potential for a long-term position

At Academics we are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has experience with hearing impaired students to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Tunbridge Wells.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them to access their education fully within a mainstream school environment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant supporting hearing-impaired students, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school''s inclusion/SEND team to provide effective support both inside and outside the classroom.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting students with hearing impairments to access the curriculum.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Helping students to develop their confidence, independence and communication skills.
• Supporting classroom activities and adapting resources where appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
• Providing encouragement and pastoral support to students.
• Promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Requirements

• BSL Level 1 or above is essential.
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Experience supporting students with hearing impairments or SEND would be advantageous.
• A patient, caring and supportive approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
• A genuine commitment to helping students achieve their potential.
• Must hold a DBS or be willing to apply for one.
