A welcoming and inclusive mixed secondary school in Barnet is seeking Learning Support Assistants to join their team this September. The school has both full-time and short-term supply opportunities available, making this a great option for those seeking flexible roles within a dynamic school environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils with additional learning needs access the curriculum and reach their potential. Working across Key Stages 3 and 4, your support will be tailored to students both 1:1 and in small group settings, focusing on a range of subjects.

You will:

  • Assist students in overcoming barriers to learning, both academic and behavioural
  • Support classroom learning under the guidance of subject teachers
  • Collaborate closely with the SENDCO to track progress and adapt support strategies
  • Contribute to the preparation of learning materials and assessment reports
  • Promote a calm, consistent, and inclusive approach to student engagement

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals considering a future career in education, psychology, or youth work, or for those with prior experience in SEN support roles.

The School

This high-performing secondary school is based in Barnet and serves a diverse and vibrant community. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school consistently delivers excellent outcomes, with students achieving well above the national average. A strong positive progress score reflects its commitment to academic growth and success for every pupil.

The school offers a personalised approach to teaching and learning, where staff build strong relationships with students in a supportive and inclusive environment. Every pupil is known and valued.

Beyond the classroom, a rich co-curricular programme ensures 100% pupil participation in extra-curricular activities. Curriculum-linked trips and enrichment opportunities are embedded throughout the year, fostering personal development and broadening horizons.

As part of a wider Trust working with primary and secondary schools in and around London, the school benefits from collaboration, shared expertise, and a strong support network.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a welcoming and ambitious school community where staff are well supported and student achievement is a shared priority.
