Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs?
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate-SEND Teaching Assistant-to join our supportive team at a welcoming secondary school in-St Helens, providing-1:1 support-for students aged-11 to post-16.
You will play a vital role in helping students with-moderate learning difficulties,-Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),-ADHD, and some-Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)-needs access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive in school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support tailored to the needs of individual students.
- Assist with academic learning, personal development, and emotional regulation.
- Support students in and out of the classroom, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality support.
- Promote inclusion and create a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience supporting young people with SEND, particularly ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students who may present with challenging behaviour.
- Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting learning and well-being.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
- Experience working in a secondary or post-16 setting.
