Teaching Assistant – Alternative Resource Provision (ARP)

Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with an outstanding Alternative Resource Provision (ARP) in Watford. We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact by supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other complex learning difficulties. If you are passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role:

You will work closely with the classroom teacher and SEND specialists to support students across Key Stages 2–4 within a structured and therapeutic environment. Your support will help learners build confidence, develop key life skills, and achieve their academic goals.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs

  • Assisting with behaviour regulation and emotional resilience

  • Adapting learning resources to engage students effectively

  • Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and behaviour plans

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Helping to create a calm and inclusive classroom atmosphere

  • Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach

  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and confidently

  • Team player with excellent communication skills

  • A strong understanding of SEN and trauma-informed practices

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
