Teaching Assistant - Challenging Behaviour

Job Title: Teaching AssistantLocation: GatesheadContract Type: Long TermLeader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision in Gateshead.This role is supporting pupils aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.This school provides a safe, supportive environment for students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education, with a strong focus on reintegration wherever possible.The goal is to help young people develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive in a mainstream setting when they are ready.Previous experience is necessary.The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.The successful Teaching Assistant will have:A current DBS that is on the update system, or a willingness to obtain onePrevious experience with challenging behaviour or SEMH needsThe ability to implement de-escalation strategies and behaviour management techniquesEmpathy, patience and understanding when supporting pupils with complex needsThe expertise to support teachers in the classroom and assist with lesson preparationExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionalsAdaptability and initiative to accommodate for various learning type and abilitiesHigh expectations and aspirations for young people and themselvesLeader Education can offer: Competitive pay rates Refer a friend or ..... full job details .....
