About the Provision

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a leading Alternative Provision in Fleetwood. This dedicated school supports vulnerable young people who thrive outside of a mainstream environment. The provision focuses heavily on social, emotional, and academic re-engagement, offering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space where pupils are given the tools to rebuild their confidence and succeed.

The Role

We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team for the full 2026/27 academic year starting this September. In this role, you will work closely with pupils who may have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, autism, or a history of school exclusion.

Operating on a 5-day-a-week basis, this position offers excellent stability with the potential to transition into a permanent contract directly with the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 and Small Group Support: Guide pupils through their academic work and tailored intervention programmes.

  • Behaviour Management: De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies and a trauma-informed approach.

  • Emotional Mentoring: Act as a positive role model, offering a listening ear and helping pupils build emotional resilience.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with class teachers, therapists, and the Tradewind team to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Creating a Safe Environment: Foster a classroom atmosphere built on trust, respect, and mutual understanding.

About You

We want to hear from dedicated individuals who refuse to give up on young people and can see the unique potential in every pupil.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with children or young people (experience in an AP, SEND, or youth work setting is highly desirable).

  • A calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach to challenging behaviour.

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills.

  • Reliability and commitment to a full-time, 5-day schedule.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Team Teach or similar positive handling training (Tradewind can provide certified CPD training).

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or SEMH support.

Why Register via Tradewind Recruitment?

  • Top Rates of Pay: Competitive daily rates paid weekly.

  • Award-Winning CPD: Access to more certified professional development courses than any other education recruitment agency.

  • Dedicated Consultant: A local consultant based in the North West to support you every step of the way.

  • Employee Wellbeing: Recognised as a Sunday Times Top 100 employer, putting our candidates first.
