Our School is a successful and highly regarded special school for pupils aged 2-19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, autism and complex needs. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join our dedicated team and help our pupils achieve their full potential. 

This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced teachers and ECTs who are passionate about inclusive education and are committed to delivering outstanding learning experiences for children and young people with complex learning difficulties. 

The Role 

As a class teacher, you will: 

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils. 

• Create a stimulating, safe and inclusive learning environment. 

• Lead, manage and motivate learning support assistants effectively. 

• Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress and achievement. 

• Implement and develop the school’s curriculum for pupils with complex and severe learning difficulties. 

• Work closely with parents, carers and a range of external professionals. 

• Contribute to Annual Reviews and multi-agency meetings. 

• Promote pupils’ wellbeing, independence and personal development. 

• Support inclusion opportunities both within and beyond the school environment. 

• Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement initiatives. 

We Are Looking for Someone Who 

Essential 

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is working towards completion of an ECT programme. 

• Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all learners. 

• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Is enthusiastic, creative and committed to continuous professional development. 

• Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. 

• Can establish positive professional relationships with pupils, parents, carers and external professionals. 

• Has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. 

Desirable 

• Experience of teaching pupils with SEND, particularly those with PMLD, SLD and/or ASD. 

• Knowledge of approaches such as Makaton, TEACCH, PECS, Intensive Interaction, Sensory Integration and Objects of Reference. 

• Experience of leading and managing support staff. 

• Experience of leading a curriculum area or subject. 

• Additional qualifications relating to Special Educational Needs. 

• Team Teach or other positive behaviour support training.
