Second in Science (KS4 and KS5 Focus) Salary: TLR 2B Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Start Date: September 2026 Location: Watford About the Role We re seeking an ambitious and motivated Second in Science to join a thriving department and take a lead role across Key Stages 4 and 5. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science teacher who is ready to step up, develop leadership experience, and make a real impact on teaching and learning. You ll work closely with the Head of Science to support staff development, raise achievement, and enhance the Science curriculum for all learners. Key Responsibilities Support the Head of Science in leading the department and driving standards across KS4 and KS5. Lead on assessment, tracking and monitoring pupil progress to ensure all students achieve their potential. Identify underachievement and implement effective intervention strategies. Develop and refine curriculum resources for GCSE and post-16 Science. Organise and coordinate after-school revision and enrichment sessions. Model excellent teaching practice and support colleagues in improving pedagogy. Contribute to curriculum planning from KS3 through KS5. Support the induction, mentoring, and professional development of departmental staff. Line manage Science technicians and oversee their performance and recruitment.
