Teacher of History and Politics
Northwood College for Girls is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable teacher of History and Politics. Teaching will cover History from Key Stage 3 to A Level, with the opportunity to teach Politics at Sixth Form, working with motivated pupils who enjoy intellectual challenge and debate. The appointment is offered on a maternity cover basis, with applications welcomed from newly qualified teachers as well as experienced colleagues. Part-time hours may suit those seeking balance or returning to the profession. The department History is a popular and well-established subject at Northwood, with strong uptake and outcomes at both GCSE and A Level, while Politics continues to grow in the Sixth Form. The department is collaborative, well resourced and academically ambitious, with an emphasis on subject depth, discussion-led teaching and shared professional practice, supported by good facilities and strong ICT provision. Enrichment forms a valued part of departmental life and includes curriculum-linked visits such as a Year 7 visit to the Tower of London or Warwick Castle, a World War I battlefields trip for Year 9, and Sixth Form visits to Parliament.
