Teacher of English (Maternity Post)

The Royal School, Armagh is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English (full-time, temporary maternity cover) from January 2027. The appointment will continue until at least the end of the 2026/27 academic year, with the possibility of extending into the beginning of 2027/28. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to teach English Language and Literature up to GCE A Level, inspiring pupils to achieve their highest academic potential and fostering a love of language and literature. The role involves delivering high-quality teaching across Years 8-14, assessing and reporting on pupil progress, undertaking form tutor and pastoral responsibilities, and contributing to the wider life of the English Department through activities such as drama, debating, creative writing, reading initiatives and other extra-curricular opportunities. Applicants must hold a relevant honours degree, possess a qualification recognised for teaching in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland, and be registered with the GTCNI by the commencement of the post.
