Job Overview
Clarence Recruitment are seeking a highly capable and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join a well-established and successful department from the start of the new academic year. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective English lessons in line with curriculum requirements.
- Teach a range of English topics, including literature and language, to students of varying abilities.
- Assess, monitor and report on student progress, providing clear feedback and setting appropriate targets.
- Support students in developing reading, writing and critical thinking skills.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
- Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources.
- Maintain an organised and stimulating classroom environment.
- Support the management and use of learning resources and materials.
- Contribute to the delivery of the pastoral curriculum and act as a form tutor where required.
- Undertake supervisory duties in line with organisational expectations.
- Participate in meetings with colleagues, parents and carers.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice.
Person Specification
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching English to students aged 11-16.
- Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
- Ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
- Ability to assess, track and report on student progress.
- Competence in using ICT to support teaching and learning.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to support students of all abilities to achieve their potential.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable
- Experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and 5 if applicable).
- Experience contributing to curriculum development.
- Experience of pastoral responsibilities, including form tutor role.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
