TB Clinical Support Worker, Fixed term 12 months to cover Maternity leave. Provide specialised, confidential clinical support for the Coventry and Warwickshire Community TB Service, working closely with TB specialist nurses and acting as a source of advice and guidance regarding the TB Service.Be trained in phlebotomy and participate in TB screening activities, including large incident TB screening and New Entrant to the UK screening.Support patients with treatment through directly observed therapy (DOT) and assist in locating and encouraging engagement with the TB service.Arrange, monitor, report and record TB screening and treatment outcomes in accordance with Service, Trust and National standards, policies and procedures; provide support for the TB admin team when required.Input patient data into TB databases, collate demographics and screening results, and ensure data accuracy for quarterly statistics and reports.Plan and organise own work, including home visits, clinics and DOTs; act as a first point of contact for enquiries and liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff.Assist with TB medication logistics, including collecting prescriptions, liaising with pharmacies, and notifying patients when to collect medicines or delivering them as part of the care package.Provide support to patients to promote adherence and completion of treatment, particularly through DOT and adherence strategies; observe and document patients taking medicines and report concerns as needed.Identify and address barriers to treatment adherence; visit non-compliant patients at home or other locations as required, following discussion with the case manager and risk assessment.Maintain up-to-date patient records and communicate issues to TB Nurse Specialists promptly.Contribute to service development and improvement projects as directed, including data collection, reporting, and use of IT systems (e.g., iPM, CRRS).Deliver and support patient care delegated by the case manager, including helping patients attend appointments and locating patients who miss appointments.Become skilled in phlebotomy and assist in TB screening incidents, contact tracing, and New Entrant TB screening; support TB awareness campaigns and act as a knowledge resource on TB signs and symptoms.Provide administrative support for the Community TB Nursing Team as needed, including ordering and restocking supplies and handling office duties.Qualifications and skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with strong organisational abilities and the ability to work on one’s own initiative and within a small team.Ability to prioritise own workload and work with patients with complex and challenging needs.Reasonable PC skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), email, Outlook and database usage.Full UK driving license and access to a car with business insurance required; international driving license is not accepted.Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation/vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP.Additional information
