Recruitment role: Tax Manager in Derby with a long-established accountancy firm. This is a leadership role combining technical advisory work, operational oversight, and people management. Manage a wide-ranging portfolio of private clients while guiding a high-performing team, supporting both compliance and strategic advisory needs.Role Responsibilities

Leading and supporting tax team members, providing day-to-day guidance, structured development, and formal reviewsOverseeing a portfolio of private clients—ranging from business owners and directors to high-net-worth individuals—delivering tailored tax advice and ensuring full complianceMaintaining high service standards and ensuring work is delivered within agreed budgets and timelinesCollaborating with senior stakeholders to scope out client needs, allocate resources effectively, and ensure technical accuracyBuilding long-term client relationships through clear communication, trust, and proactive supportContributing to business development efforts, including networking, involvement in marketing activities, and proposal preparation for new workEnsuring all work aligns with regulatory and internal compliance standardsAbout the Firm

We’re seeking someone who combines technical proficiency with leadership capability and commercial awareness. You should:Be CTA, ATT, ACA, ACCA qualified, or bring significant relevant experience in private client taxHave a strong grounding in UK tax legislation, particularly in advisory and compliance for individualsHave prior experience in accountancy practice, ideally managing your own portfolioPossess excellent communication skills and a client-first mindsetHave led or mentored junior staff and understand how to create a supportive team environmentBe confident working independently while contributing to broader firm objectivesWhat’s on Offer
