Tax Manager

A growing accountancy firm is looking to appoint a Tax Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager or Tax Manager ready to step up, take ownership of a portfolio and broaden their advisory experience, with a clear route towards a senior leadership position.

This role can be filled on a 4 or 5 day per week basis.

The role will have a strong private client focus, combining tax compliance with increasing involvement in advisory work.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of private clients, overseeing income tax compliance and preparing tax computations and returns.
• Liaise with HMRC on client matters and undertake research into tax technical issues.
• Assist with the preparation of tax advice across areas including income tax and CGT.
• Build strong relationships with clients and other professional advisers.
• Develop your advisory skillset by working alongside senior colleagues on more complex client matters.
• Contribute to the development of the wider tax team and help improve processes and service delivery.
• Take increasing responsibility for the department with the longer-term opportunity to progress into a leadership role.

The ideal candidate:

• ATT or CTA qualified with relevant tax experience.
• Experience working with private clients would be advantageous, particularly around personal taxation, shareholder matters and estate/succession planning.
• Strong technical knowledge of income tax and CGT, with a broader understanding of other tax areas.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Commercially aware, organised and detail-focused.
• Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
