Tax Manager

Blu Sky Chartered Accountants .This is a remote position with occasional travel to Newcastle and London. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will be a central figure in delivering high quality tax services to our clients. Your day-to-day work will span personal tax, RandD, and corporate tax, while occasionally supporting S/EIS, EMI schemes, company valuations, and bespoke tax advisory projects. You will manage client expectations and help maintain high standards in compliance and strategic tax planning.PurposeThe Tax Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering accurate and compliant RandD reports and tax claims, ensuring timely submission within client deadlines. You’ll also set up and advise on EMI and other option schemes, supporting client growth by driving tax efficiency and aiding talent retention. Your expertise will help clients make informed financial decisions through bespoke tax advisory projects and planning strategies.Responsibilities
Deliver high quality tax services across personal tax, corporate tax, and RandD claims.Prepare and review RandD reports and tax claims to meet client deadlines.Set up and advise on EMI and other option schemes.Assist with S/EIS/EMI schemes, company valuations, and bespoke tax advisory projects as needed.Manage client expectations and maintain high standards in compliance and tax planning.Requirements
Experience:Personal tax compliance and advisoryCorporate tax compliance and advisoryExperience with creative tax reliefs (e.g. RandD)Competence in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)Qualifications:ACA or CTA qualified (or equivalent)Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with clientsExperience with EMI schemes, SEIS/EISComfort with networking and managing key business relationshipsFamiliarity with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero)Interest in AI or willingness to learnPersonal AttributesPrecise: Detail-oriented and methodical in approachAnalytical: Able to assess and interpret complex financial dataNumerical: Enjoys working with figures and calculationsOrganised: Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlinesCritical thinker: Evaluates potential risks and strategiesBusiness-minded: Strong commercial awarenessInitiative-driven: Proactive and self-motivatedAdministrative: Enjoys structuring and documenting workKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)
