An exciting opportunity has become available at Raytheon UK for a

Systems Engineering Manager

to join our Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) division. This role involves supporting a variety of programmes and RandD initiatives, while contributing to the growth of our engineering capability—a key driver of the business’s strategic expansion.

Based at our Harlow site on a hybrid working model (3 days on-site), you will report directly to the ATMS Senior Engineering Manager.

As the

Systems Engineering Manager , you will lead the systems engineering team, overseeing resource allocation and providing technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of military and civil projects worldwide. Our ATMS business has heritage in the development, manufacture, sustainment and support of secondary surveillance radar technology. Out technology is relied upon to marshal more than two-thirds of the world’s air traffic due to its precision accuracy and ability to detect aircraft even within the most crowded airspace. Designed and manufactured in the UK, our products are exported globally to RTX customers in more than 45 countries.

Responsibilities

Accountable manager for the ATMS System Engineering team (12 Systems Engineers) supporting all programmesLeading preparation of technical proposals in responses to bidsLeading requirements analysis and management tasks – from capturing customer requirements to developing requirement sets for sub-systems and suppliersLeading systems design and development tasks – working both internally and closely with the existing supply chain and strategic partnerships to develop technical solutionsLeading systems integration, verification and validation tasks – from developing sub-system level test specifications, through to generating compliance matrices to allow sign-off of top-level systems for deliveryDefining the systems capabilities aspects of the APNT technology and product roadmaps

Required Experience

Degree in an engineering (or related) subjectExperience in accountability for and management of a systems engineering team across the product development lifecycleExperience in workload management and dynamic tasking across several projects for the systems functionExperience in developing systems engineering capabilities across programmes and staffing experience levelsProven stakeholder management skillsOutstanding analytical and problem-solving skillsWillingness to travel throughout UK, Europe and the USEligible for BPSS and SC clearance levels

Desirable

Surveillance radar domain knowledge and/or experienceExperience in systems modelling approaches and simulationKnowledge of the certification process as part of the overall system lifecycle
