The Opportunity
The Systems Engineer (Windows and Linux)
role is hybrid-working from Manchester with a salary of £55,000 to £60,000 per year, plus excellent company benefits and incentives.I''m on the lookout for a Systems Engineer to provide technical support for a field engineering team who are undertaking installation, commissioning and maintenance activities for technologies on the UK motorway network.You will support the operation of a communication system, providing operational and technical support to customers, system users and other stakeholders while ensuring delivery and maintenance tasks are undertaken to a high standard.Skills and Experience
A proven background working as a Systems Engineer in an engineering environment (Defence, Telecoms, Rail, Highways, Energy, etc.)Strong IP Networking skills including addressing, subnetting IP Networks, routing, etc.Experience working with highways technology or traffic signals would be highly desirableWindows and Linux configuration and system administration skills, including experience with the following:Build and maintain clustersOperation of Hypervisor and virtual machines within clustersSystem administration with products such as Linux and LUCILinux Shell and Scripting tools including bashDisk partitioningRole and Responsibilities
Support the operations of a team working on the live communication systemProvide operational and technical support to customers, system users and other stakeholdersUndertake fault investigation and dissemination of relevant diagnostic informationProduce technical documents, system design specifications, test specifications, etc.Applications
