The job description below will outline this position: Systems Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a specialist Enterprise Engineering team delivering advanced networking, communications and IT infrastructure solutions. The role focuses on systems design, product development, network infrastructure, technical support and engineering innovation across satellite communications and enterprise networking environments.
 
Typically, this person will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing and supporting enterprise networking and communications solutions.
• Acting as the technical expert for selected products and engineering systems.
• Supporting the design and development of value-added network services and infrastructure.
• Producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation for new products and engineering solutions.
• Investigating and resolving complex engineering and customer support issues.
• Supporting Product Management and Sales teams with technical expertise, customer meetings and product demonstrations.
• Evaluating new technologies, software releases and hardware solutions for future deployment.
• Supporting Linux-based server environments and enterprise network infrastructure.
• Designing and supporting routing, switching, firewall and network security solutions.
• Contributing to systems integration, virtualisation and high-availability projects.
• Participating in engineering support rotas when required.
• Maintaining technical expertise across emerging communications, networking and satellite technologies.

HSB Technical''s client is looking for someone who has: Essential:

• Degree, HND/HNC in IT, Programming, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 3 years'' relevant Systems Engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with Routing, Switching and Layer 7 Firewalls.
• Linux administration experience (CentOS and/or Ubuntu).
• Experience with Apache and MySQL.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• An analytical mindset with the ability to work independently and within a team.
• Proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.

Desirable:

• Project planning and delivery experience.
• Windows Server administration.
• VMware virtualisation experience.
• Experience with Asterisk and VoIP platforms.
• Bash or Perl scripting knowledge.
• Hardware and software systems design and development experience.
• Experience with satellite communications, traffic shaping and network infrastructure.
