Location: New Malden (Hybrid Working)
Salary: -65,000 - -72,000



The Opportunity

Our client, a leading organisation within the defence and technology sector, is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-impact programmes supporting critical national infrastructure and defence capabilities. You will play a key role across the full systems engineering lifecycle, contributing to the successful delivery of advanced technology solutions.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver systems engineering work packages across the full project lifecycle
  • Produce and review technical documentation in line with programme milestones
  • Plan and support key design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Manage technical aspects of suppliers, ensuring alignment with requirements and design baselines
  • Review and assure technical documentation from internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Hardware, Software, V&V, ILS, Cybersecurity and Safety
  • Provide technical leadership to ensure delivery to time, cost and quality
  • Support risk management, bid activity and estimation processes


Required Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in systems engineering within defence, aerospace, maritime, or another regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of requirements management, system design, integration and acceptance
  • Experience with control systems, PLC/SCADA and operational technology
  • Familiarity with model-based design tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect)
  • Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Understanding of safety-critical or regulated systems

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of verification and validation (V&V), including environmental and EMC testing
  • Professional accreditation (e.g. INCOSE ASE/CSEP)
  • Experience working within a marine or defence environment


Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC).
