Location: Hybrid (Minimum 1 day per week onsite in either Bristol or Yeovil)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Working Pattern: Standard Days (No shift work)
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance Requirement: BPSS required for day one (Must be eligible to undergo SC clearance if required)
Pay Rate: -6070 per hour (Inside IR35 / Umbrella)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior System Safety Engineer for a high-profile, 12-month contract supporting critical aerospace/defence engineering programmes. This role offers excellent long-term stability and a modern hybrid working model, requiring just one day per week at either our Bristol or Yeovil facility.
As a pivotal member of the engineering assurance team, you will drive safety compliance, develop robust safety arguments, and ensure that complex systems satisfy rigorous regulatory and military standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Case Development: Lead the creation, maintenance, and maturation of complex System Safety Cases and safety arguments.
- Risk Management: Perform comprehensive Safety Risk Management tasks, including Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard Analysis, and risk mitigation tracking.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all engineering activities strictly align with military safety standards and customer requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and external stakeholders to champion a proactive safety culture.
Key Requirements (Top 3 Skills)
To be successful in this role, you must possess demonstrable experience in the following:
- Def Stan 00-056 Knowledge: A deep and thorough understanding of Defence Standard 00-056 (Safety Management Requirements for Defence Systems).
- Safety Case Development: Proven track record of successfully authoring and managing Safety Cases within high-integrity engineering environments.
- Safety Risk Management: Hands-on experience performing safety risk assessments, populating hazard logs, and executing hazard analysis tasks.
Security & Eligibility
- Candidates must hold or be able to rapidly achieve BPSS clearance prior to starting the contract.
- While active SC clearance is not a day-one mandate, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo the vetting process if required during the assignment.
