Are you an experienced Support Worker ready to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to take on more responsibility within a supportive team.

We’re looking for a Senior Support Worker to join a service providing supported accommodation for young people aged 16–18. The aim is to help young people build confidence, develop life skills and prepare for independent living, with the right support around them along the way.

The role

This is a hands-on position where you’ll work directly with young people while taking the lead on the day-to-day running of the home during your shift.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships and providing practical and emotional support.
  • Helping young people develop independent living skills, including cooking, budgeting and managing daily routines.
  • Supporting young people with emotional wellbeing, relationships and decision-making.
  • Leading shifts, guiding Support Workers and making sure tasks are completed to a good standard.
  • Completing handovers, daily records, incident reports and other necessary paperwork.
  • Following safeguarding procedures, managing risks and responding calmly to challenging situations.
  • Helping maintain a safe, clean and welcoming home.
  • Supporting colleagues, including helping new staff settle into the team.
  • Working with the wider team to ensure young people receive consistent support.

You’ll also take part in the on-call rota and may need to provide sickness cover when required.

What we’re looking for

You will have experience working with young people in supported accommodation, residential childcare or a similar social care setting. Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who can build good relationships, remain calm under pressure and set a positive example to others.

You’ll need to be confident taking responsibility for a shift, communicating effectively with colleagues and keeping accurate records. A good understanding of safeguarding and risk management is essential, along with a genuine commitment to helping young people develop their independence.

A relevant Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Children and Young People, or a related subject would be desirable. Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues would also be an advantage.

What’s on offer?

  • £35,763 salary
  • A two-on, four-off rolling rota
  • Ongoing training and opportunities to develop your skills
  • The chance to build your leadership experience and progress towards Team Leader or management roles
  • A supportive team working towards positive outcomes for young people
  • Opportunities for additional hours and quality-related bonuses, subject to the applicable scheme criteria

Interested?

If you’re ready for a role where you can make a real difference to young people’s lives while developing your own leadership skills, we’d love to hear from you.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
