About the Client: Phil, 61, is a friendly and good-humoured gentleman who enjoys sport, golf, dominoes and backgammon (he especially enjoys teaching others how to play), as well as walks and following Leeds United. He lives at home with his wife and two adult children. Phil uses a stroller for shorter outings and a wheelchair for longer distances, often enjoying trips to the local park and café. Phil sustained an Acquired Brain Injury following a road traffic accident. Prior to his injury, he was an active businessman and sports enthusiast, regularly running half marathons. He now requires support during the day and follows a structured rehabilitation programme designed by a multidisciplinary team (MDT), including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy. Due to his ABI, Phil can experience fatigue, confusion, agitation and reduced awareness of his condition, though he remains sociable, engaging and often very witty.

The Role at a Glance: You will be an integral part of Phil’s support team, promoting independence, dignity and confidence in daily living. Support will be delivered through gentle prompts and visual cues to encourage routine and participation. For example: “Phil, shall we get ready to go through for lunch?” This helps guide the sequence of tasks such as using the bathroom, handwashing and transitioning to mealtimes. Phil’s day is carefully planned to balance therapy, rest and enjoyable activities, while ensuring he is not overstimulated. You will work closely under the direction of a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) who have created a tailored rehabilitation plan to support his ongoing recovery.

This Job Would Suit: A *female support worker who is confident, compassionate, observant and respectful. You will be comfortable working independently while following detailed MDT guidance. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with professionals, including the case management team. Phil enjoys conversation but can become tired by too much stimulation, so the ability to read the situation and adapt your approach is key. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for someone committed to making a meaningful difference.

Why You’ll Love This Role: You will join a well-established and supportive team within a welcoming family home. This is a chance to play a key role in Phil’s rehabilitation journey, with full training and ongoing professional support provided.

Recruitment Process: This vacancy is managed through Snap Care’s Shortlist Service. All applications will be reviewed against the essential criteria before suitable CVs and contact details are shared with our client/case manager, who will manage the next stage of recruitment directly. By applying, you consent to your details being shared with the client. Please note we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Where a specific gender is requested, this is a genuine occupational requirement under paragraph 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
