Our client Walsall Council is looking for a Supervising Social Worker to join their Fostering Service.

Hybrid Arrangements: One day per week within the Office

Additional Requirements: Must drive and travel as we have families located all over the country

To undertake the full range of social work duties in relation to statutory Fostering work promoting the best interests of children and young people at all times. We would expect that the candidates have a sound knowledge of the Children''s Act 1989 and related children''s services legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, assess, prepare, train, and support foster carers in accordance with fostering regulations and local policies.
  • Undertake fostering assessments, annual reviews, supervision visits, and provide ongoing support to foster families.
  • Promote and monitor the achievement of Training, Support and Development Standards for foster carers.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, foster carers, and partner agencies to secure stable and positive placements.
  • Ensure the voice, wishes, and feelings of children and young people are central to all assessments and care planning.
  • Manage a varied caseload, including complex and safeguarding cases, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales.
